AACCI Victoria was delighted to host a delegation from the American university of Sharjah (AUS) Alumni Advancement Program. The university was established in 1997 and celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. It has a base of over 13,000 alumni across the world, with approximately 1000 alumni located in Australia. The purpose of the AUS visit was to launch their Alumni Chapters in Sydney and Melbourne. The official launch of their Melbourne Alumni Chapter occurred at AACCI’s event.
The AUS delegation approached AACCI for assistance with establishing contact with Australian universities to build their connections in the country as this was their first visit. AACCI Victoria organised a number of meetings with universities around Melbourne including Monash University, Swinburne University and Latrobe University.
The event was highly successful due to attendance from the UAE Consul General, HE Saeed Alqemzi and the Consulate’s Police attaché, Major Abdulaziz Aljunaibi. Also in attendance from the AUS delegation were Charles A Diab, Executive Director of Advancement and Alumni Affairs, Dana Taleb, President of AUS Alumni, Abdullah El Shazly, Director of Institutional Advancement of AUS Alumni, as well as a large number of AUS Alumni in Australia that had previously graduated from the university.
The delegation found the event to be a large step forward in establishing a network for AUS in Australia, with a deep appreciation for AACCI Victoria in organising the Chapter launch, and facilitating connections with other universities.
