The UAE is Australia’s largest trade and investment partner in the Middle East, with thriving tourism links, strong defence cooperation and wide-ranging dialogue and collaboration on foreign policy and international security. Almost 25,000 Australians live in the UAE, there are 350 Australian companies represented, and over 130 flights a week connect the UAE and Australia.
On Tuesday, 9 July 2019, AACCI Victoria held a Business Insights UAE Seminar and Networking Event attended by over fifty members, stakeholders and guests including the UAE Consul General HE Mr Tareq Al Ali.
Mr Roland Jabbour OAM, President and National Chairman AACCI presented an overview of business, trade and investment opportunities in a range of industry sectors across a number of the UAE Emirates – Ajman, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The focus on these six Emirates was a direct result of AACCI MENA Trade Mission in April 2019. The business program for UAE included visits to and engagement with chambers of commerce and businesses across these Emirates. A number of AACCI members and participants in the AACCI MENA Trade Mission were happy to share their experiences on how they are already capitalising on the connections generated during the AACCI MENA Trade Mission.
Mr John Butler, Executive Director Global Partnerships and Projects, Global Victoria confirmed the Victorian Government’s involvement in the Connecting the Minds Creating the Future – Dubai 2020 Expo as a major sponsor. Mr Butler also outlined the huge scope of the Expo and the many opportunities from services, innovation, food, packaging as well as niche sectors in health, sciences and transport among others for Victorian businesses and strongly encouraged involvement. With the Expo being only 15 months away, Global Victoria will be holding a number of promotional events across Victoria. AACCI as the Expo 2020 Associate Partner looks forward to be actively involved and support our members’ participation in Dubai 2020 Expo.
The formal presentations were followed by lively discussions and networking over refreshments.
