Queensland Chapter
AACCI's Queensland Chapter was established in 1983, and has taken a prominent position as one of the leading organizations in the state promoting bilateral trade between Australia and the Middle East and North Africa.
Chapter membership ranges across a variety of industry sectors, but is heavily driven by agribusiness and more recently by education—including training and professional services—but the core membership remains in manufacturing, trading and supply lines.
The Chapter has developed a strategic approach to working with other agencies including the State Government through Trade & Investment Queensland, and Federal agencies including Austrade and DFAT. This approach has led to collaborative arrangements with organisations such as the Gold Coast City Council and Queensland universities.
In 2011 the chapter will continue to focus on attracting new members and on conducting events to give members opportunities to network and hear from prominent speakers with insight on MENA markets.
Don Williamson -- Executive Officer, Queensland
Before joining the AACCI team, Don Williamson served in the Commonwealth government for over 30 years – most recently with the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade).
He has extensive experience in developing business strategy and marketing programming. He has also worked on numerous projects requiring managing communications across several sectors of industry.
Additionally, Don draws on his close familiarity with Commonwealth procedures and programming to provide significant insight into government relations.
In addition to his work with AACCI, Don works with other industry and investment organizations and consults with companies on government relations and contracting matters.
