 The Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (AACCI) was founded in 1975, under the auspices of the then Federal Department of Trade and Resources. We now operate with the full support of the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade and the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade). The Chamber is recognised as the peak business Association for Companies dealing with Arab League Countries.

The Chamber is affiliated with the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for Arab Countries (GUCCIAA), Australian Business in the Gulf (ABIG) and other Trade associations and Chambers in the Arab League countries.

The National Secretariat is located in Canberra with Chapters established in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia. Each State Chapter is represented on the National Council enabling substantial input into the formulation of National policies and programs. The National Secretariat maintains a very close liaison with Australian Government Ministers, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Austrade and the Arab Diplomatic Corps.

Membership comprises a diverse range of Australian companies and organisations involved in trade, commerce, education, investment and industry with the 22 Arab Countries.

The focus of the Chamber is on collection and dissemination of information relating to bilateral trade opportunities and ensuring Government policy decisions are correctly targeted.

Membership

Is open to any individual, firm or company interested in the objects of the Chamber. Current cost is $400 pa, including GST.

Services & Activities

  • Documentation

    AACCI is authorised by the Australian Government to process documents for all of the Arab League countries. These countries are: Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Syria, The Sudan, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen.

    Certificates of Origin and other documents e.g. Invoices, Health Certificates, Halal Certificates, Shipping Advice and Agency Agreements or Contracts are certified for AACCI Members at discounted rates.
  • Benefits For Members

    The Chamber is continually striving to provide measures which will enhance member's Trade activities. Some examples are:
    • Visas - The Chamber will assist members in obtaining necessary visas to Arab League countries by authenticating a suitable supporting letter where required
    • Acceptance of Company Cheques by Embassies - non-members are required to pay with Bank Cheques or Money Orders.
    • Free listing on the Chamber's web site - members are allowed up to six pages to promote their company and/or link directly with their own web site. Members Listing.
    • Translations - the Chamber will introduce members to reputable Arabic translation services.
    • Advice - on cultural issues to facilitate your dealings with Arabic Countries
    • Letters of Introduction - we can also assist in arranging appointments with our bilateral Chambers in the Arab League countries.
    • Functions - State Chapters regularly organise;
      • Formal functions to meet visiting Dignitaries and Government Officials
      • Informal member 'networking' functions providing an opportunity to discuss 'one on one' experiences.
    • Trade Delegations - Chamber members receive early advice of in and outbound Trade related delegations. The Chamber is an official member of outbound delegations and occasionally organises its own missions.
    • Trade Shows & Exhibitions - members receive early advice, and preferential treatment in a number of Countries.
    • Trade Information - overseas requests for product or services are regularly posted on the Chamber's Web Site or forwarded directly to members if a product etc is specified
    • A regular Newsletter is issued free to all members.
    • Travel & Accomodation - discount offers are made available to members from time to time.
  • The Chamber is a non-political, non-sectarian and not for profit organisation whose objectives are to:

    • Promote the export of Australian natural resources; agricultural and manufactured products; professional services and intellectual property to the Middle East and North Africa.
    • Encourage bilateral trade between Australia and the Arab League countries.
    • Facilitate the matching of exporters with importers through our bilateral associations
    • Negotiate on behalf of Australian business to ensure Government trade policy and bilateral agreements are directed at fostering Australia - Arab trade
    • Mediate through Australian Government agencies or directly with Arab League Chambers on their policies which may impact upon Australian Exporters
    • Communicate all matters relating to trade opportunities and developments to our members
