AACCI's reputation as a leader of Australian business in the Middle East has been underlined at a function in Perth that provided an assessment and de-brief on the successful WA based trade mission to the Arab Gulf led by AACCI in November last year. The mission reinforced Australia's reputation as a global trade and investment partner and opened the door to a number of significant opportunities for those Western Australian companies participating.

According to the latest data from Gulf Projects Tracker MEED projects, the total value of projects planned or under way in the GCC in September 2008 was about US2.17 Trillion, a 44% increase from September 2007.

Returned delegates took part in a cocktail function held on the 4th March to share with other AACCI (WA chapter) members the excellent opportunities that are available to build networks and
business contacts in the Middle East. Tapping into new export markets, and promoting WA as a desirable place to invest and do business will not only help insulate the economy from any significant global downturn
but assist to cement West Australia's role as a major global and national economic force and form long lasting trade links that will place the state in good stead for the future.
