Associate Membership of AACCI |
|
The Board of Directors of AACCI has decided to introduce a new Associate membership category. The new category of Associate member will be available from 1 July 2009.
The Board has decided that the fee for this new membership category will be initially set at $250.00. It will be proportionately increased when there is an increase in the standard membership fee.
The purpose behind the Board’s decision is to provide a category of membership for individuals or single operator enterprises who would hesitate in joining the Chamber at the full fee of $400.00.
Associate membership is open to individuals, including academics and other professionals, who have a legitimate interest in Australian-Arab trade and investment and cultural links, and who are not associated with a company that would otherwise have subscribed to the Chamber as an Ordinary member. |

AACCI's reputation as a leader of Australian business in the Middle East has been underlined at a function in Perth that provided an assessment and de-brief on the successful WA based trade mission to the Arab Gulf led by AACCI in November last year. The mission reinforced Australia's reputation as a global trade and investment partner and opened the door to a number of significant opportunities for those Western Australian companies participating.
According to the latest data from Gulf Projects Tracker MEED projects, the total value of projects planned or under way in the GCC in September 2008 was about US2.17 Trillion, a 44% increase from September 2007.
Returned delegates took part in a cocktail function held on the 4th March to share with other AACCI (WA chapter) members the excellent opportunities that are available to build networks and
business contacts in the Middle East. Tapping into new export markets, and promoting WA as a desirable place to invest and do business will not only help insulate the economy from any significant global downturn
but assist to cement West Australia's role as a major global and national economic force and form long lasting trade links that will place the state in good stead for the future.

AACCI Announces the Introduction of Student Membership |
The AACCI Board of Directors has decided that its decision to introduce a student category of membership will be implemented in 2008-2009 financial year.
In making this decision the Board acknowledges the importance of building a broad base of human contact and interaction between Australia and the Arab countries in order for trade and commerce to flourish. Recognising that today’s students will be tomorrow’s leaders, AACCI is keen to establish links with Arab nationals studying in Australia to encourage them to think of Australia as a future partner for their countries’ economic and social development and prosperity.
AACCI is keen also to provide a social focal point for Arab students in Australia, while offering at the same time a chance for those students to reflect upon ways in which individuals can help develop the mutually advantageous trade and commercial links between Australia and the Arab countries. |

Australia-UAE Book Launch |
|
A new book launched at a glittering dinner in Sydney on 31 October 2008 highlights the depth of the economic relationship between Australia and the United Arab Emirates.
Published by Focus, the book offers a contemporary and detailed examination of the extent and character of the commercial relationship between the two countries and points to the opportunities for further development that lie ahead. It will provide an important platform for Australian companies to promote themselves and their product in the UAE, and for UAE companies to do the same in Australia.

The book was officially launched by HE Dr Saeed al-Shamsi, Ambassador of the UAE to Australia.
